Panevėžys windmill I

This J. Biežis windmill was built in about 1880. It was owned by a businessman of a Jewish descent Meškinis, and it was acquired by J. Biežis in 1921. After nationalization in 1948, the windmill was especially neglected and abandoned, and in 1979 after handing it over to the Education unit, there were plans to open a station of the young technicians and school observatory. Astronomer A. Juška had already given a telescope to the windmill, but later it was returned to the family of J. Biežis.
