Panevėžys Local Lore Museum

One of the oldest regional museums in Lithuania has been established in 1925. The museum is situated in the very center of the city, in the house of the wealthy city nobility Moigiai. Museum started with 2000 items on display, in 1939 the number increased to 12000 and in 2019 the museum’s collection consisted of more than 114 000 exhibits. In 2019 two main museum buildings are being renovated. 5 new expositions will be presented in 2020 introducing the ethnography of Panevėžys region and its history starting from the city‘s first inhabitants leading towards the collapse of the Soviet time. Visitors can enjoy an impressive insects‘ of the world collection via an interactive nature exhibition – “Nature Media”. A new Educational Center at the museum offers entertaining and educational programs.
