Skaistakalnis park

The oldest city park, Skaistakalnis, is a green oasis right in the very center of Panevėžys. The meaning of the park name comes from pagan times. For ancient Lithuanians, the word “skaistus” (bright, chaste) also meant “sacred”. Thus, “Skaistakalnis” might translate as “sacred hill”.
